Who we are

This website is run by MacAllen Media & Public Affairs LLC (“MacAllen Media”, “we”, “us”), a communications consultancy based in New York, USA. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. For any question about your data, email jackie@macallenmedia.com.

What we collect, why, and on what legal basis

  • When you email us (the site’s contact buttons open your own email app): your name, email address, organization and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it to reply and, if we work together, to provide our services. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and taking steps toward or performing a contract with you.
  • Our mailing list. We may occasionally send news and insights by email. We will only add you if you agree, and every email includes an unsubscribe link. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies (Google Analytics and the LinkedIn Insight Tag), only if you click “Accept” on our cookie notice. See “Cookies” below. Legal basis: your consent.
  • Technical logs. Our hosting provider, Netlify, processes standard technical data (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) to deliver the site and keep it secure. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website.

We don’t ask for sensitive personal data, and we don’t use your data for automated decision-making or profiling with legal effects.

Cookies

Our site sets no analytics or advertising cookies unless you accept them. If you click “Accept”, we load:

  • Google Analytics (Google), which tells us how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed and time spent. See Google’s privacy policy.
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag (LinkedIn), which shows us aggregated information about the companies and professionals who visit and helps us measure our LinkedIn advertising. See LinkedIn’s privacy policy.

If you decline, these don’t load. You can change your choice at any time: .

Who we share data with

We never sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run our business, under contracts that protect it:

  • Netlify (website hosting)
  • Google (Google Analytics, and our email service)
  • LinkedIn (Insight Tag)
  • Our email marketing provider, if you join our mailing list

We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

International transfers

We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the US and other countries. Where personal data from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland is transferred, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) where our providers are certified, or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep data

  • Emails and client records: for as long as we are in contact or working together, then as long as needed for legal, tax and accounting purposes.
  • Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.
  • Google Analytics: 14 months.
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag and hosting logs: for the periods set by LinkedIn and Netlify.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU and UK GDPR), you have the right to: access your personal data; have it corrected; have it deleted; restrict or object to how we use it (including objecting to direct marketing at any time); receive it in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything done before.

To use any of these rights, email jackie@macallenmedia.com. We’ll respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example in the EU country where you live or work, or the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Children

Our website and services are for businesses and are not directed at children under 16.

Changes to this policy
